Ignite Improv is a long form duo that does improv “that seems like it’s a play” by focusing on character development and relationships. Melissa Schenter and Rosey Waters have been working together as a duo and in a musical improv trio for 3 years.
They can often be seen performing at Rise Comedy in Denver.
Rosey Waters has been a professional actor and improvisor for over 35 years. As an improvisor, she has been a member of multiple teams including “That’s What She Said”, an all-women’s team where she and Melissa met and started improvising together. She is also currently an actor and director of Red Thread Playback Theater. For the past 30 years, Rosey has been a teaching artist with a focus on teaching educators how to use theater in their classrooms as a way to teach their curriculum. Rosey is also a role player and coach for teaching communication skills to medical students and for Crisis Intervention Training for police officers. Rosey has studied improv and musical improv in Chicago at Second City, io and Annoyance Theatre.
Melissa Schenter is an improviser, singer and devising theater artist hailing from the Pacific Northwest, where she earned a bachelor's theater degree from Western Washington University. She has performed original plays at a wide range of Fringe Festivals, including Edinburgh and Edmonton, and at an American Chemical Society National Conference. She is a member of Barkley, an improv team which performs weekly at Rise Comedy in Denver, and hosts the community's individual improv jam.
